David's life, narrated in 1 and 2 Samuel, is an extensive demonstration of how spirituality and prayer are embedded in personal relationships and vocation. Spirituality requires embodiment in personal history. Using the David story, this series provides direction in realizing the personal, vocational particularities that anchor the life of prayer and spirituality in our lives. The purpose is to learn to identify, accept and embrace the detailed ordinariness of our actually lived lives as the context in which the Holy Spirit shapes holiness in us.
Eugene H. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College. He has written numerous books, authored a commentary on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, and translated the Bible (The Message) into contemporary English.
