Christian leadership is built on the foundation of followship - following Jesus. Leadership that is not well-grounded in following Jesus is dangerous to both the church and the world. Contemporary leadership models are not so different from the models available to Christians in the first century and to which Jesus' "follow me" provides such a radical and uncompromising contrast.
Eugene H. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College. He has written numerous books, authored a commentary on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, and translated the Bible (The Message) into contemporary English.
