Over the course of the 20th century the shape of Christianity in the world changed more dramatically and more rapidly than at any period since the very first centuries of church history. This series offers a historical survey and proposes possible explanations for some of these developments and changes in Christianity over the 20th century.

Mark A. Noll is McManis Professor of Christian Thought and Professor of History at Wheaton College since 1979. He is Co-founder and present director of the Institute of American Evangelicals at Wheaton. He is a visiting teacher at Harvard Divinity School, University of Chicago Divinity School, Westminster Theological Seminary and Regent College. He is the author of numerous books including A History of Christianity in the United States and Canada1992), The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind1994), Is the Reformation Over?
