This Evening Public Lecture is also available as part of the Regent History Workshop 2012 which focuses on Secularization as the unintended consequence of the Reformation. Here, Darren Provost presents a case study using archival research on Ulm, a former free imperial city in southern Germany, which sheds light on the relationship between the development of Christian Humanism during the Northern Renaissance and the early Reformation, and the secularization of northern European society.
