In this public lecture, Dr Satyavrata highlights the reality of poverty in the midst of economic boom in India and examines the roadmap for Christian social engagement in India. Asserting that the key reason for India's captivity to poverty is the absence of an active and robust social conscience and calls for a socially transforming spirituality within the Christian Church to be a prophetic force that nurtures that social conscience.
Ivan Morris Satyavrata is President of Southern Asia Bible College in Bangalore, India, Executive Director of Euro-Asian Theological Association, and Chairman of the Asia Theological Association in India. He is an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God with a part-time ministry role in a 7,000-member congregation in Bangalore.
