The Book of Job from Regent Audio on Vimeo.
The book of Job offers readers one of the most challenging and rewarding books in all literary history. In this class, we will explore many aspects of the book that has, throughout the centuries, inspired and challenged such a diversity of thinkers. Classes will be divided into two lectures each—one on exegesis and interpretation of the text of Job and the other on other topics relevant to the study of Job (e.g. date of composition, poetics, theology; see the schedule below for the topics paired with relevant chapters). Because the book of Job has been of such interest to interpreters in so many disciplines, the class will also explore a variety of works (theological, philosophical, and artistic) to see how the book of Job has been received through history.
*The last two lectures (5018K & L) are shorter than the rest due student presentations.
