Philippians is a short letter, but includes quite detailed and crucial statements on a wide range of topics, such as the person of Jesus Christ, the doctrine of justification, and the Christian understanding of suffering. All this is set in the context of a letter whose socio-political overtones would have been quite clear to its first hearers. This series looks at the letter, considering its meaning both for Paul’s congregation in Philippi and for the world and church today.
