Description
The Psalms have figured prominently in the life of the church, and much has been written about them. However, the two voices of the Holy Spirit, infallibly in Scripture and edifyingly in the church's response, are rarely combined. It is the goal of this course to enrich the daily life of the student and to deepen the church's community worship by hearing God's voice both through accurate exegesis of the Psalms and through the believing response of the church. After a brief introduction to the Psalter and the history of its interpretation, this course will blend a verse-by-verse exposition of selected Psalms by Bruce Waltke with a history of the Psalm's interpretation in the church from the time of the apostles to the present by James Houston. The aim of this course is to reach into the pure gold of the biblical text and into the hinterland of Christian history, and to draw fresh renewal of spirit and thought from both.
Lectures include:

- Psalms as Christian Lament (Houston)
