Description
Christian renewal has often been expressed in song, from Ambrosian long-metre hymns and Gregorian chant, to Lutheran chorales and Genevan psalmody. Evangelical devotion was likewise expressed supremely in its classical hymns. This lecture was given between Easter and Pentecost, and so it will focus in particular on evangelical devotion to Christ in his saving work: "Soar we now where Christ hath led, / following our exalted Head: / Made like him, like him we rise, / Ours the cross, the grave, the skies.
