Description

All Christians think, but not all Christians think always as Christians. Yet when Christian A meets issue X and determines to think about it in a Christian way, what is he or she actually to do? What resources should he or she consult, and how should he or she coordinate them with each other? What spiritual factors are involved? And what, finally, is the point of Christian thinking? This course attempts to answer these questions particularly in the context of cultural pluralism and postmodernity. Lectures include:

  • Introduction to the Course, Class, and Content; Vocational Thinking
  • The Current Situation: Cognitive Pluralism
  • The Heritage of Christian Thought: Four Models
  • Discussion of Mark Noll - The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind
  • Elements of the Basic Scheme
  • The Basic Scheme
  • Philosophy, Reformed Epistemology, and Cognitive Science of Religion - by Myron Penner
  • Discussion of Nicholas Wolterstorff - Reason Within the Bounds of Religion
  • Deciding in an Ambigous World
