James M. Houston is Board of Governors' Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent College. Previously, he was University Lecturer at Oxford University. He is author of I Believe in the Creator, In Search of Happiness, The Heart's Desire: A Guide to Personal Fulfillment, The Transforming Power of Prayer: Deepening Your Friendship with God., Joyful Exiles, and Letters of Faith Through the Seasons.

In a broken world, our thirst for wholeness is deeper than our thirst for knowledge. It is this concern for wholeness that has been the source of the Regent emphasis on spirituality, community, and integration. In light of this, James Houston reflects on the challenges Christians will face in light of the vast changes in society (including changes in the workforce and the growing disparity between the rich and the poor) since the founding of Regent College.
