French sociologist and lay theologian Jacques Ellul (1912-94) was one of the most penetrating and provocative Christian thinkers of the 20th century. Today, Ellul's original and penetrating critique of technique and the technological society seem more urgent and incisive than ever. Jeffrey Greenman is President of Regent College. He previously served as Associate Dean of Biblical and Theological Studies and Professor of Christian Ethics at Wheaton College. He has co-authored many books, including Understanding Jacques Ellul and Unwearied Praises: Exploring Christian Faith through Classic Hymns. He is also a member of a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Christian Ethics.
