Description
No question about it! Money has a hold on us. It is certainly not neutral. So for good reason Jesus spoke a lot about money. Sixteen out of 38 of Jesus' parables deal with money; more is said in the NT about money than heaven and hell combined. In the Bible 5 times more is said about money than prayer; while there are 500 plus verses on both prayer and faith, there are over 2,000 verses dealing with money and possessions. But money can be a sacrament.
In this lecture we explore the intriguing and challenging words of Jesus 'to be rich towards God' and to 'lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven.' This, of course, raises the critical question of what 'heaven' is and just how we use money to invest in the kingdom of God. It is so much more than simply sending a cheque to a Christian organization (not a bad thing to do).
