Description
Historically, the dominant paradigm of evangelical Christian community and mission in the public square has often been one of domination and conquest, specifically in contexts where Christianity has held cultural acceptance. Too often, Christian communities can be a part of the narratives of exclusion and injustice rather than champions of the common good.
nnnI will argue that dominance occurs due to misunderstanding and misrepresentation of the Gospel, and to the obligation it places upon those who believe. As authentic Christian community in the public square bears the 'Good News of God,' the 'fruit' of which is 'the common good,' the Gospel invites us to turn to joyful testimony and witness, as salt and light.
