Description
Focusing on the canonical Gospels, this course will examine the theme of the kingdom of God. After an initial review of modern approaches to this topic, we will undertake a deep read of relevant biblical passages with a view to attempting a theological profile of the kingdom. By design the course will be at once exegetical and theological.
Both theoretical (What is the kingdom of God? and its characteristic traits? What is the relationship between kingdom and church/state?) and practical issues (What implications does kingdom participation have for both ecclesial mission and personal vocation?) will be explored in class discussion.
