Description
Listen to a clip of this course here.
For many Christians, the transformative power of the gospel is essentially ethical: it makes us better persons. While surely true, this course argues that the gospel does so much more. The unique “worldview” of Scriptures is fundamental to the most radical revolution the world has seen: modernity’s previously unimagined growth, freedom, knowledge, creativity, and innovation. This raises two questions: what is this “worldview,” and what about modernity’s obvious problems? This course is specifically designed to address both. We will see how Scripture not only “created” modernity but also offers profound guidance in the transformation of our everyday world, through its big metaphors (creation as God’s temple, humans as his image), deep narrative of life and hope in the face of suffering and evil, and their central emphasis on God’s wisdom and character, ultimately expressed in Jesus, as the basis for human creativity.
