Description
As we read the Gospels, two facts about the life and ministry of Jesus especially stand out. The first is that He performed amazing deeds of healing and restoration of broken lives. The second is that He spoke in parables, in stories which at first seem obvious enough, but which upon further hearing, begin to radically alter our understanding of reality. Through His parables Jesus opens up His understanding of the Kingdom whose advent He announces, and paints a portrait of the Father for Whom He lives. And we are, slowly but surely, brought into His own understanding of reality. In this course we will work through His parables in Matthew and Luke, learning to hear Jesus speak in His Middle-Eastern context and thus, hear Him as we otherwise could not! A Why Does He Do It? B Parties, Prodigals and Possessions C Forgiveness, Foreigners, Pleas and Prayers D The Kingdom Is At Hand! E Keep Watch!
