Hans Boersma, Seeing God: The Beatific Vision in Christian Tradition
What is it that made Christians throughout the tradition look forward to seeing God face to face? Why was the beatific vision central to their spirituality? Much of Boersma's new book discusses earlier theologians’ views of the beatific vision. In his book launch presentation, he explains why the beatific vision is central to the Christian hope, and presents his own dogmatic understanding—God looks us into being, and we are saved by looking back.

Don Lewis, In Darkest London: The Manuscript Journal of Joseph Oppenheimer, City Missionary
A small hand-written journal kept daily by a door-to-door evangelist in 1861 provides a rich minefield for our understanding of urban mission in the midst of the desperate poverty of slum life. Lewis' book launch lecture will unpack what life was like under such conditions, and the efforts made to proclaim the Christian gospel in this context.
