Description
Calvin's theology is widely believed to consist of the famous (or notorious) 'Five Points', and nothing more. In this course we shall consider other important aspects of Calvin's thought that are neglected but have similar importance and interest - the knowledge of God and of ourselves (the main motif of the Institutes); his Catholic Christianity; his account of God's double gift, justification and sanctification; the two kingdoms and the significance of human culture; and God's providence and fatalism.
Lectures include:
- Calvin: The Man and His Style
- The Knowledge of God and of Ourselves
- Calvin's Catholic Christianity
- The Two-Fold Gift
- God's Providence and Fatalism
- The Two Kingdoms and Culture
