Description

This lecture, which draws from Boersma's forthcoming book Hidden Treasure: Sacramental Presence in Patristic Exegesis (Baker Academic), discusses patristic readings of the psalms. Music making, Bible reading, and moral living are all of a piece for the church fathers. They all have to do with the discovery of divine harmony. Through each of these activities the believer enters into Christ. This lecture, therefore, explores patristic readings of the psalms with the aim of tuning our lives to be in sync with the beauty, the truth, and the goodness of the Christ who opens to us the Book of Psalms.
