Margaret Avison is a recipient of the Order of Canada. Her work has placed her in the forefront of Canadian writers and earned her a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Governor General's Award for Literature. The Dumbfounding, published in 1966, is considered classic, disciplined poetry of the "rarest and purest kind".
