On October 24-26, 2013 Regent College celebrated the creation of the Eugene and Jan Peterson Chair in Theology and the Arts. As part of this occasion, Eugene Peterson shared his thoughts on "Why Theological Education Matters" to the Regent College student body. He then introduced the new chair with a lecture on the topic "Why This Chair?" Iwan Russell-Jones was then installed in that chair and presented a lecture entitled "Shall These Bones Live? The Ash Wednesday Promise of Art".

Eugene H. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College. He has written numerous books, authored a commentary on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, and translated the Bible (The Message) into contemporary English.

Dr. Iwan Russell-Jones is Eugene and Jan Peterson Associate Professor of Theology and the Arts, and the Head of the Christianity and the Arts Program at Regent College. He has over 25 years of experience as a producer and director for the BBC, in both television and radio, and is a founding co-editor of the Ship of Fools website. For four years, he taught at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where he set up a new department to explore the interaction between faith, media, and contemporary culture.
