Description
Have you ever wondered what on earth Sunday has to do with Monday? This course offers a panoramic overview of the history of the interaction of Christian and non-Christian views of work from biblical times to today. It aims to uncover the theological, social and contemporary factors that have led to a perceived gap between faith and work. The divisions between over-work and under-work, between integrated and segmented approaches to work, family and church will be examined. Lectures include:
- The Puritans and the Secularized Protestant Work Ethic
- Industrial Alienation and Separation of Church, Home, and Work
- Integration and Segmentation of Church, Home, and Work
- Vocation in a Post-Vocation World
