Since the 1730's, Evangelical Christianity has both moulded and been affected by British society. This series covers the Churches of England and of Scotland and the variety of Nonconformist denominational sects in England, Scotland and Wales, but concentrates on the broad patterns of change affecting all the churches. It deals with the origins of the Evangelical Revival, the growing strength of the movement in the nineteenth century, its subsequent decay and the resurgence of Evangelicalism since the Second World War.
