Description
The Historical Sense, the Incarnate Christ, and Spiritual Interpretation In The Word of God for the People of God, Prof. Billings claims that in order to properly receive the Bible as God's word, Christians need to interpret Scripture from a particular yet expansive position: as ones united to Jesus Christ by the Spirit, confessing the incarnate Christ to be the culmination of God's work in history. This paper explores ways in which the historical and spiritual senses of Scripture can be construed in light of the unity of God's historical work in Jesus Christ, extending through the Old and New Testaments. Iain Provan provides a response.
This book discussion is also available as part of the complete set of presentations from the conference, Heaven on Earth: The Future of Spiritual Interpretation.
