Description
There simply is no other document in all of human literature like the Gospel according to John! No other document, except perhaps Paul's epistle to the Romans, has had the kind of redeeming, transforming effect on human existence that John's Gospel has. As has been noticed throughout the centuries, the Fourth Gospel is 'shallow' enough for any brand new believer to 'wade' in, yet 'deep' enough for the most mature, seasoned believer to 'dive' in and never reach bottom. In this course we will, after wrestling with some of the major critical issues, work our way through the book one section at a time, trusting that John's purpose in writing will be fulfilled in us: 'these things have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in his name'. Lectures include:
- Introduction
- Prologue
- John the Baptist: From Cana to Cana
- The Sabbath/Passover
- The Feast of Tabernacles
- The Feast of Dedication
- Mary, Martha, and Lazarus
- Palm Sunday
- The Upper Room
- The Lord's Prayer
- The Passion
- It is Finished/Resurrection Morning
- Resurrection Evening
- Alive in the Resurrection
