Description
Our tendency as Christians is to assume that resurrection life is future life - life in heaven. Resurrection, however, also describes our present reality. Our destiny to be restored to our full humanity as Yahweh's image-bearers has already been sealed by the Spirit through whom the Father raised Jesus from the dead. This Spirit indwells us as the Lord and Giver of resurrection life, enabling us to manifest the ascended Lord's power and authority. In this course we will look at the New Testament experience of the Spirit and explore the theological realities and practicalities of our present call to live as Spirit people - empowered and gifted to minister healing, justice, reconciliation and the witness of Christian hope in the world. Lectures include:
- The Holy Who? Remembering the Spirit in the Creation Narrative
- The Kingdom, the Spirit, and God's Messiah
- The Spirit in the Life of Jesus
- Jesus, the Spirit, and the People of God
- The Spirit and the Triune Experience of the Church
- Paul and the Churches
- The Grace of Jesus, the Love of God, and the Fellowship of the Spirit
- God the Holy Spirit
